UBL part 2

Today, I would just like to post an email I received from one of the more brilliant minds on America's East Coast. Brilliant, because I think this person actually follows this blog.

Just as long as he doesn't have to give up his Nobel Peace Prize
"Let's be clear on this: OBAMA did NOT kill Bin Laden. An American sailor,
who Obama just a few weeks ago was debating on whether or not to PAY, did.
In fact, if you remember a little less than two years ago, his
administration actually charged and attempted to court marshall 3 Navy
Seals from Seal Team Six, when a terrorist suspect they captured,
complained they had punched him during the take-down and bloodied his
nose. His administration further commented how brutal they were. The left
were calling them Nazis and Baby Killers. Now all of a sudden the very
brave men they vilified are now heroes when they make his administration
look good in the eyes of the public. Obama just happened to be the one in
office when the CIA finally found the bastard and our sailors took him
out. Essentially, Obama only gave a yes or no answer to him being taken
out. This is NOT an Obama victory, but an AMERICAN victory!! Forward on IF
YOU AGREE!!"

Dependency

I really wish I were a better writer, but I'm not. Thankfully, there are people like Thomas Sowell. Here is a link to his most recent article...a must read. This is exactly what I have been trying to articulate for a long time now. He is just alot better at it than I am.

Energy

For a good dose of common sense, go to http://www.deneenborelli.com/ and check out the transcript of her testimony to Congress she gave today. Well said, Deneen.

Gas part 2

In an earlier post discussing gas  prices, I gave a handful of reasons for the increase that it is hurting us all. One reason was that the U.S., with it's huge reserves of oil, functions under a policy that prohibits us from retrieving it.

Well, it's been a couple weeks now since the all knowing President made his announcement(on a weekend of course, to minimize the media attention), that the U.S. does indeed plan on expanding exploration and drilling in areas that have been previously forbidden. Oil prices have been bid slowly down ever since, thus dropping the price of gas. Where I live, it is now 42 cents/gallon less than just two weeks ago. The free market at work.

Is it too cynical to think that the Prez looked at his calender and realized there is an election coming up in less than a year and a half? Nope. My guess is that is exactly what has transpired here. Interesting how a guy who is owned in part by the lunatic fringe of tree huggers will gladly sell them out to save his own hide.

At least this compromise of principles by the Prez is in a positive way for the nation--for once.

Israel

Anyone see the president's speech today? Did he just sell out Israel? Sure looks like it. God help us all.

Indiana

I wanted to make my next post a comment on the federal government intervening with Boeing from opening shop in South Carolina.... a travesty and very dangerous power grab by the central authority. Then I saw the story about the Indiana Supreme Court ruling that broke this weekend. All I can say is...WOW! Have we really fallen this far? One of our state Supreme Courts has just ruled that it's OK for a police officer to enter your residence whenever he or she feels like it. Am I reading this right? Give me some feedback, folks...my eyes are too glazed over to write anymore. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2011/may/13/indiana-supreme-court-no-right-resist-unlawful-pol/

2012

During the last 6 days, the TV and the internet have been filled with punditry and analysis regarding how the long overdue death of UBL will affect Obams re-election bid next year. One point that keeps recurring in this discussion, is that after the liberation of Kuwait, GHW Bush enjoyed approval ratings as high as 90%. This is true. He still managed to lose in '92. And since the successful take out of UBL, Obama's approval ratings barely cracked 50%. This is also true.

But the one key element I'm not really  seeing in all the analysis is the media. Since Bush had an R after his name, the national media, by nature, was hostile. The current president has a D after his name(plus the PC factor) which naturally earns him the support of the media. Actually, there has been no other president in recent times to have enjoyed what has become virtually state run media.
There is even an entire cable news network devoted to propaganda in favor of this administration.

The White House and the media will run with the UBL story for a very long time. Actually, have you even heard the word Libya lately? It does seem the mixed bag of employment numbers released yesterday did get some juice, but not much. But every detail of this triumph against terror will be in our faces for months. It's the only thing this administration has to hang it's hat on. And it makes for a great distraction from what we are paying at the pump and grocery store.

Don't get me wrong, UBL's demise is a great moment for America and the national psyche. I actually envy the Seal that pulled the trigger. But it will be fascinating to watch over the course of the upcoming election season how it will be manipulated for political reasons. Beware.

Mr. Sowell

You just gotta love Thomas Sowell. He has hit it right on the head once again in todays article in Investor's Business Daily entitled Fed Up with the Fed. Another plain talking dose of reality from one of the most under-appreciated thinkers of our time. Check it out. And thanks, Mr. Sowell.

UBL

Congrats to the Seal unit that served justice to bin Laden. Well done. Some proof would have been nice, tho.

Cain is able

Herman Cain. The more I research this guy, the more I hurry to get on the bandwagon. A common sense talker, with a common demeanor, this guy knows how to get things done. But I will praise his qualities on a later post. Today, I want to bring up the other, perhaps lighter, more fun angle.

For those who don't know(virtually everyone), Herman Cain has declared his candidacy for President. He is a staunch fiscal conservative with a set of values that most Americans share. But most have not heard of him, nor will they, unless they make an effort. Why? Because most of the media will not stand for it. Mr. Cain believes in a limited government, lower taxes and personal responsibility, therefore, protecting our individual liberties.
Sure, those with the same ideolgy, (Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, etc.) get all kinds of media attention. But Cain won't. He can't. All because of one simplistic and ridiculous reason. His skin happens to be black. Yes, Herman Cain is an African-American, who took full advantage of the freedom this country bestows upon everyone, and made his own way. He is also an avid supporter of the Tea Party movement. Someone who strongly believes that the phrase, We the People, that introduces the Constitution, actually means something.

I really hope he does become more well known. If the media is forced to ever mention his name, it will be so much fun to watch. Since the political correctness cancer has to keep everything in it's own little box(don't you dare think outside that box), those in the media that are enslaved by political correctness have absolutely no way to deal with the likes of Mr. Cain. It will be hilarious to watch NBC, CBS, NPR and MSNBC tripping over their tongues to try to paint Mr. Cain as a lunatic. How quickly will Jesse Jackson use the phrase Uncle Tom if he has to reference Mr. Cain? And, it's all so predictable. I can't wait until the Mikey Moore's and Bill Maher's have to acknowledge this man's presence. How funny will Letterman and Stewart look?(And not in the way they want to be funny). Maybe I shouldn't include Stewart here...we will see. But it's amazingly easy to predict. My guess is, he will simply be ignored. Does anyone even know the names Thomas Sowell or Alan West? Nope. And it's all because the media simply chooses to act as if they do not exist. They simply don't have a way to deal with such folks. Doesn't fit in the box.

Average uncommon sense says that if you are at all concerned about America's future, and the well being of yourself and our up and coming generations, look up Herman Cain. You will probably like what you see.
