Project Gunrunner part 2

Here comes the coverup, folks. Let's see how many more are taken out in the coming weeks and months. God, I love a great political scandal! http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/06/27/atf-to-fire-gunrunner-whistleblower/

My kinda town....

Since I live right here in the Peoples Republic of Illinois, most of the stories I hear originate from my hometown, Chicago. Great city, with great people...for the most part. But check out the link. http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2011/06/26/Teen-mob-storms-Chicago-Walgreens/UPI-24261309062660/.

Now, this is not a phenomena unique to the windy city. Urban centers from coast to coast are experiencing this homegrown terror. This just happens to be the town I am most in tune with at the moment. The question again, is...why is this happening??

Here's why. After at least a couple of decades of our schools, our media, and even our courts constantly sending the message that:1-you are not responsible for your actions; 2- you are a victim...you are repressed somehow; and 3- you are entitled to what you want, this type of behavior is simply a natural by-product. What else can you expect, when we are consistently being told that someone who happens to have more than you, owes you in some way. Hey Mr. Retailer, you have all this stuff on your shelves and I don't have any of it. I'm entitled to it, because you are keeping it from me thru your evil, repressive capitalism. Never mind all the  risk and sweat and time invested(hard work) that Mr. Retailer went thru to open the shop doors...all that is never considered. Nope, you got something I want, so I'm gonna take it.

Once again, you have to think of ancient Rome. The concept of entitlement, simply because you breathe, was the destruction of the Roman Empire, and is certainly going a long way in the rapid decline of America.

Are we going to continue to keep ourselves ignorant and un-involved? Or are we going to become active in our communities at promoting principles of self reliance, personal responsibility, decency and common sense. I gotta feeling we are about to find out.

Boeing

As you may have heard, the Federal Government has brought suit against Boeing for opening a factory in South Carolina to help in production of the new 787 Dreamliner. The NLRB, acting on a complaint from the machinists union, is claiming that Boeing has opened this plant in a right to work state(meaning unions are weak) as retaliation for past strikes at their union facilities in Washington state. As far as I can tell, the NLRB has produced no evidence to support this charge, other than what some union official out west has speculated about.

So, here we go. Now the government is dictating to private business where it can or cannot set up shop. Once again, the Obama administration is sucking up to the unions who planted millions into his campaign warchest in 2008. And, potentially at the expense of several thousand jobs in South Carolina. Does this sit right with you?

On the bright side, this should go a long way in helping Obama lose South Carolina in the next election. There really is hope.

Project Gunrunner

Interesting article by Tom Tancredo. It asks the questions that are the most relevant right now. Let's keep watch on how the mainstream media handles this one. http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=312485

BATF part 2

Well, even tho the shredders at Justice and ATF have probably been running 24/7 for awhile now, I think this story might have some real legs to it. Reference the earlier post entitled BATF and read the linked article. No way I'll ever believe that something of this magnitude occurred without the knowledge of the Justice Department. No way.

A little clicking around, and you can find quite a bit on this story. The media will not report most of it, of course. But I find it interesting that Mr. Melson, acting head of ATF is refusing to resign. According to an L.A. Times story today, he's unwilling to be the fall guy. Stay tuned, folks...this could get ugly.

Shootin' from the hip

I'm going off half cocked on this one. All I have heard is an ABC News radio report and I've done no research.(I feel like MSNBC).
I just heard that the International Energy Agency(never heard of it) has agreed to cut loose with 60 billion barrells of oil onto the open market. 30 billion barrells will be provided by the U.S. Obama has directed the National Strategic Oil Reserve to unleashe these 30 billion barrells. The price of oil plunged over $4 per barrell today.

Correct me if I'm wrong please, but I was always under the impression the this national reserve was to only be tapped at times of a severe disruption in the flow of oil. A terrorist attack maybe, or a natural catastrophe. I believe the last time this was done was after Katrina. The administration is saying that supply is the determining factor here...the war in Libya is somehow to blame.
The truth is, Libya is a relatively small player in the oil market, and virtually all the oil it exports goes to Europe.

Everything I've read recently states that there is plenty of oil on the market. As a matter of fact, oil prices have been steadily dropping over the last month and a half.

Once again, you just can't help thinking that this another political ploy. The election gets closer every day, Obama's economic record looks worse every day, so he thinks getting gas prices down right before the July 4th holiday somehow makes him look like a leader.
In other words, he thinks you are a moron.

This national reserve now must be replenished in case there actually is an emergency. We going to drill? I hope so. But in the meantime, they are counting on the American public remaining as un-informed useful idiots. Will you comply?

BATF

Too all firearms owners out there: You gotta read this one. http://www.nrapublications.org/index.php/10142/project-gunrunner/. Another great example of how stupid your government thinks you are. This is what terminal arrogance of the ruling elite brings. Congrats to CBS News for breaking the story and to any other media organization that continues to follow up.

As long as we're congratulating, thumbs up to to the people of the Great State of Wisconsin(home of the world champion Green Bay Packers), whose Governor is about to sign into law a conceal/carry option for gunowners. Of course, this must be followed by a big thumbs down to the Peoples Republic of Illinois, as we are now the last state in the union without this freedom to protect ourselves.

Libya

You gotta see the linked UPI article. Remember we are "leading from behind". This is NATO's war and America really isn't all that involved. Never mind that NATO IS America. This Prez has nothing but contempt for the Congress or the Constitution. The War Powers Act is just fine as written, it just doesn't apply to THIS administration. How stupid do they think we are? http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2011/06/15/Obama-War-Powers-Act-not-applicable/UPI-43561308158071

I wish I were an Oscar Meyer....

Ok, I really wanted to stay above the fray and ignore the Anthony Weiner story. To me, it's just the current distraction the media is feeding us so they don't have to report on the real stories. But, I can't resist commenting on the media coverage once again. Here is what you don't hear.

Weiner, from New York, has a big D after his name. He obviously does not have a single ounce of common sense or decency and has acted like an idiot, especially for someone in his position. And many of the high ranking pols that have a D after their names are calling on him to resign, finally. Sure he should resign. He is a disgrace to the institution he represents. But you can't help getting the feeling that his resignation is being demanded by his fellow party members simply because he got caught. Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, etc., are all portraying him as someone with a disease(in other words, not his fault) that needs to seek the help he so desperately needs. The truth is, he is a self absorbed idiot with less sense than a 5th grader.

Now, about 6 months ago, a guy with an R after his name, Chris Lee(again from New York...what is it with New York?) admitted to a similar prank, but far less disgusting and grotesque as the dalliances by Weiner. It is generally understood, that John(the Tan) Boehner told Lee he will immediately resign his seat, and he did. Why the dramatic difference in the way the two parties handle their own idiots?

Here's why. The dopes with the R after there names, in general, run campaigns and promote policies that have a moral high ground, more of a traditional values type approach to them. So when someone strays like Lee, he is immediately axed.

The dopes with a D after their names have made a living out of having absolutely no moral compass whatsoever. This is the party that will bend over backwards to ensure you have unimpeded access to an abortion. Even use someone else's money to pay for it, if possible. This party views Bill Clinton like the rocknroll world views Mick Jagger: a legend of almost mythical proportions. So what if Clinton has cheated on his wife repeatedly, and lied directly to the American public. He is a hero simply because they think he believes in their progressive agenda.

So there you have it. That's my two cents on a relatively benign topic. Just one question: which set of dopes would you rather trust?

National media

In a post from last month titled 2012, I referred to the double standard the media imposes on us while covering politics. Today's Chicago Tribune gives us a glaring example. The front page of the Trib has a very lengthy, detailed, and alarming article on how we can expect electricity prices to increase by as much as 60% starting in 2014. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-0612-rates-20110611,0,7432941.story.

The facts stated in the piece are not new. This story has actually been in the news(if you were looking) for a couple of years now. But here is what is remarkable about the piece. There is not one single mention of the current administration's cap and trade ideology. Cap and trade,of course, is the lunacy based plan to tax smoke and trade options to produce said smoke. It's ultimate goal is to put the evil coal industry out of business, which in turn eliminates hundreds of thousands American jobs.

Throughout this lengthy and well written piece, Obama's name is never mentioned. The phrase carbon tax or cap and trade is never mentioned. As you may recall, cap and trade legislation failed miserably in the Congress, so the EPA just decided to declare carbon dioxide a pollutant. The same gas plants need and emit. The same stuff you produce when you breathe. This gives the government the authority to regulate it. Cap and trade lives, albeit through the backdoor. What do we need a Congress for, anyway?

The Trib makes several mentions of "new regulations" as tho they just somehow magically occurred. Not one single reference as to how the regulations originated. Why?

Here's why. The plan of taxing carbon is a plan hatched by the geniuses that call themselves liberals. Therefore the media is obliged to shed as little negative light as they can get away with.
Never associate Obama's name with something that has a negative impact on us all. And blame Bush if possible. Sure, I'm exaggerating a bit here, but not much. My guess is, that if a Republican administration had a proposal similar to this one, there would be loud cries from the media on how they just don't care about the little guy.

Another thought: Wouldn't a 60% increase in electricity rates go a long way in putting many already struggling businesses under? And more jobs disappear.

Anyway, the mainstream media is complicit in the whole mess. That is not even debatable anymore. The Chicago Tribune is one of the most respected publications in the country, and it is failing to the most basic job of the media: to act as the watchdog of the government. That is why the first amendment guarantees a free press. But we are getting short-changed. We only get the parts of the story they want us to have.

Does anyone out there realize how incredibly dangerous this has become?

Breath

Remember a few years ago when then candidate Obama stated that "under my plan of cap and trade, electricity prices will nesessarily skyrocket"...?? Well, he couldn't get the Congress to pass it, so he just went ahead and mandated the EPA to do it, via executive order. I think that was back in February. So now, check the  link. http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2011/06/08/coal-regs-would-kill-jobs-boost-energy-bills.

Remember Ceasar and his relationship with the Senate? Tyranny is not a good thing, people. Wake up!

Rome part 2

I would like to start by thanking We be workin for providing the link to the Chicago Tribune story in the comments section of the previous Rome post. This directly ties in to what I would like to say in part 2.

Not only has the United States gone in an eerily similar direction to the failed Roman Empire on an economic basis, but culturally, it might be even more frightening. There are countless historical accounts of the degradation of basic values of decency and morality during the final years of Rome. Gambling and drunkeness were rampant. Sexual promiscuity(both hetero and homo) became viewed as the norm, not the exception. And all these actions became viewed as inconsequential. In other words, personal responsibility almost disappeared. One did not need to be responsible for one's actions, because one could do no wrong. When a problem occurred, the tyrannical central authority of Rome's ruling class would ensure that you would still be able to eat and house yourself, at the expense of the taxpayer.

Sound familiar? It should. In the U.S. today, there is a casino popping up in every suburb. Flash mobs are looting and pillaging because they know the reward is far greater than the risk. The entertainment industry makes every movie or TV show with a nod to homosexuality as not only normal, but something to be celebrated.(Yes, that line will offend some,I get it... but the truth is, if homosexuality were normal, the human species would have expired eons ago. Different subject for a different post.) In the Chicago public schools today, when a teacher is assaulted, the principal's first question to the teacher is, "what did you do to provoke the student"? Yeah, political correctness run amok. We all know it, too.

The recent rash of flash mobs in downtown Chicago is a direct result of political correctness. The perpetrators, so far, have all been black teenagers. The victims, so far, have all been non blacks. Yet there has not been a single mention of any of these kids being prosecuted under the current hate crime statutes. Why is that? Would it be the same story if the perpetrators were white thugs targeting minorities?

And Mayor Emmanuel has been very public in his statements. No big deal...we aren't that concerned...it's summertime, ya know? Why?

And the Obama Justice Department is stepping up it's investigations into big city police departments for there alleged brutality.

Yeah, the Roman republic was a human rights nightmare in many ways. It definitely degenerated into tyranny, and it's Senate rendered irrelevant(hmmm...sound familiar again?). But it is responsible for bringing the human being into its current state of modernity. And when it fell, it fell hard. Never did recover.

Rome

The similarities between the ancient Roman Republic and the current United States of America have been a topic of debate and controversy for many years. I felt that the article that is linked below, does an excellent job of summarizing the economic segment of the argument. What is truly frightening however, is that the article was written in 1990. Our debt was a quaint $3 trillion then. Read it and weep. http://www.fff.org/freedom/0690c.asp

Stay tuned for part 2.
